Privacy Policy

HeadFocus uses your camera to see which way your head points, on your Mac only. It doesn’t record, store or upload images, has no account and no analytics. It goes online only to check for updates and, once you’ve bought it, to check your license.
Who we are
HeadFocus is made by Shahab Gohar (“we”). Questions about this policy: support@headfocus.app.
What the app handles on your Mac
- Camera frames. 640 × 480 pixels at 15 frames per second, analysed on your Mac by Apple’s Vision framework to estimate head pose (yaw, pitch, roll). Each frame is discarded immediately. The camera turns off when your screen is locked, your display sleeps, or only one display is connected.
- Calibration. Head-pose measurements for each screen and camera, stored in the app’s preferences on your Mac.
- Decision history. So HeadFocus can show how well it works for you, and learn to work better, it keeps a history of its own switches on your Mac: when it switched, between which screens and apps, your head angle at that moment and which of your cameras measured it, and whether you kept the switch or undid it. Which keys you pressed is never part of it. It stays in a file on your Mac, is never sent anywhere, is deleted after 30 days, and you can clear it at any time from the HeadFocus menu (Clear Decision History).
- Keyboard and mouse activity. The timing of key presses, clicks and pointer movement, used to decide when switching focus would interrupt you. HeadFocus doesn’t record which keys you press.
- Windows. Which app and window is in front on each display, so the right window can be focused.
None of this leaves your Mac.
What leaves your Mac
- Update checks. About once a day, HeadFocus downloads a small file from this website to see whether a new version is out, and downloads the update if you choose to install it. The request carries the app’s name and version and, like any connection, your IP address. You can turn automatic checks off in the HeadFocus menu.
- License checks. When you activate or deactivate a license, and about once a week afterwards, HeadFocus contacts Polar, our payment provider. It sends your license key, our store’s identifier, an activation identifier and your Mac’s name (so you can recognise the Mac in the customer portal). Polar also sees your IP address as part of the connection.
During the trial, HeadFocus sends nothing besides the update check.
Purchases
Polar sells HeadFocus as merchant of record. It processes your payment and handles sales tax, and shares your name, email address, country and order details with us so we can support you. Card details go to Polar and its payment processors, never to us. Polar’s own privacy policy applies to the checkout.
This website
This site uses no cookies and no third-party fonts. To count visits, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics: for visitors outside the EU, Cloudflare adds a small script to each page that reports which page you viewed, the page that linked you here, your browser and device type, your country and how quickly the page loaded. It uses no cookies or local storage and doesn’t track you across other websites. Visitors in the EU don’t get the script. Cloudflare, which hosts this site, also keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security.
Your choices
You can revoke camera and Accessibility access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security. To have us delete your purchase records, email us; we’ll keep only what tax law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and describe the change on this page.
28 October 2026: this website now counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics (see “This website”). Nothing changed in the app.
